Does my life have a Purpose?
Does my life have a purpose? Why am I here?
These are questions that go through the minds of many people as their life moves on. To the uninitiated mind, it might seem that we are just a product of two people having fun in bed. They believe, once we are born, our only purpose is to survive as long as we can until we take that last breath.
With this philosophy in mind, it does not matter what we do with our lives, whether we get an education, or try to understand why our life is expressing as it does. It does not matter whether we contribute to society or to the earth itself, or even if we are a “good” person. We just live until we die.
How does religion play into creating an understanding of having a purpose?
In my understanding through studying the human species, a belief in a god, or gods has been essential for as far back as human history has been unveiled. Organized religion itself is fairly new in history, in particular Christianity. I believe the purpose of religion is to guide the undeveloped mind to be able to embrace a “tangible” belief in something “intangible”.
It is far easier for a mind that has no concept of a subject to grasp this subject when concrete parameters are offered.
Religions vary in their perception of the purpose of mankind existing on this plane. However, no matter what additions any religion adds into the fray, the basic tenet is to expound the concept that each person needs to add value to the lives of themselves and others and to aspire to grow consciously as a human being.
Does spirituality promote the progression of living on purpose?
Spirituality is like religion without dogma. The concept of spirituality supplies a basis for living one’s life beyond these human rules and beyond the need to limit a person’s ability to express themselves in a manner that can only be seen and measured by others.
Spirituality endorses each person being the true person they were created to express.
Spirituality recognizes that all that exists on any level is one with all else. This recognition allows and supports the person to recognize they are more than just their mind or their body.
At this level, the person can now access information that supports their knowing themselves as an unlimited manifestation of the universe rather than a limited being, born as a “sinner”.
When a person realizes they are more than the body they manifested, it gives them more tools for self-discovery. Their individual life purpose can become more evident in the process.
